BTM Consult ApS to expand in China
The premier forecaster of the wind industry, BTM Consult, has long recognized that China has the potential to become one of the world’s fastest growing markets for wind energy.
As a first step towards closer involvement in the Chinese market, BTM Consult is publishing its World Market Update report in Chinese: " 国际风能发展 - 世界市场动向2006". The launch will take place during September.
BTM-C’s World Market Update is globally recognized as a reliable reference guide to the development of international wind energy. It has been published in English continuously since 1996.
In 2006 the Chinese market was the fifth largest market in the world, after the USA, Germany, India and Spain. A total of 1,334 Megawatts (MW) of new wind power capacity was installed. This year it is expected that more than 2,000 MW will be commissioned.
Over the last three years (2004 to 2006) China has shown the fastest growth rate of all the leading wind power markets. The average increase in the capacity of new installations has been 65 % per year.
The Chinese government has officially announced its objective to see up to 30,000 MW of wind energy operating around the country by the year 2020.
BTM Consult’s latest projection up to 2011 shows an expected market development of some 14,000 MW of wind capacity in China over the next five years.
“We have followed developments in China for many years, and we now look forward to a new era of large-scale wind energy implementation,” said Per Krogsgaard, Partner in BTM Consult ApS. “Not only are all the major international wind turbine manufacturers well established in the market, but joint ventures and Chinese-owned companies have been rapidly growing in recent years. Our global customers not only demand knowledge of the Chinese market but also how to communicate best with potential partners. This has led us to employ our own Chinese staff as well as to publish a Chinese version of the World Market Update report.”
BTM Consult ApS’ Chinese report is expected to become a valuable tool for all those wanting to understand or become involved in Asia’s fastest growing wind energy market.
